Derek White made seven appearances for the Lions on the 1989 Tour to Australia – including winning one Test cap in the series victory.
The Scotland No.8 started the first Test out of position at blindside flanker as the Wallabies secured the win to go 1-0 up in the series.
By the time the second and third Tests came around – England’s Mike Teague had recovered full fitness and he replaced White in the No.6 shirt and would go on to win player of the series in the comeback series victory.
White would win 41 caps for Scotland in an international career that spanned a decade between 1982 and 1992, he appeared in two Rugby World Cups in 1987 and 1991 and was a key part of the Scotland side that won the Grand Slam in 1990.
