A ferocious No 8, Doug Davies was capped 20 times by Scotland, but was called up for The British & Irish Lions in 1924 at the height of his powers.
Also playing for Hawick in Scotland, Davies was the first of nine players to represent the Lions from the club, with Stuart Hogg the latest in 2013.
He played all four Tests against South Africa on that 1924 Tour, scoring in the tourists' penultimate clash with the provincial sides with a try in the 12-6 win against South Western Districts.
