Gareth Chilcott was a part of the successful 1989 Tour to Australia where the Lions, coached by Sir Ian McGeechan and captained by Finlay Calder, triumphed 2-1 in the Test series.
Chilcott didn’t make an appearance in the Test series but did pull on the famous red jersey five times during the Tour and even scored a try in his final game – a 72-13 triumph over New South Wales Country.
The powerhouse prop had made his England debut, coincidentally against Australia, in 1984 and played the entirety of his 16-year career at the top level of the game for Bath Rugby, before retiring in 1993.
Chilcott also appeared in a rugby special of the TV show Come Dine with Me alongside Martin Offiah, Victor Ubogu and Kyran Bracken in 2011.
