Fresh from helping Wales secure the 2021 Guinness Six Nations title, Gareth Davies was selected by Warren Gatland for his second consecutive British & Irish Lions Tour.
Davies appeared in warm-up matches against Sigma Lions, Cell C Sharks and South Africa A, though he did not appear in the Test series against South Africa.
The scrum-half was not in the original squad for the Tour to New Zealand in 2017 but received a late call-up while on national duty with Wales on their summer tour.
Having made his Wales bow in 2014, Davies went on to finish as one of the top try-scorers in the 2015 Rugby World Cup with five in five games as Wales made it to the quarter-finals.
Davies started all five games in that tournament with his fellow 2017 Lion Rhys Webb ruled out with injury, earning his call-up on the back of his superb form for Scarlets.
Davies finished the 2013/14 RaboDirect PRO12 season in the league Dream Team as well as the top try-scorer and has since made more than 200 appearances for the region.
He started four of Wales’ five games in the 2016 Six Nations, scoring tries against both Scotland and Italy, while he also started and scored a try in that autumn's win over Argentina.
While he had to settle for a place on the bench for much of the following year's Six Nations behind Webb, Davies finished the 2017 campaign in impressive form.
He scored tries in the both the Guinness PRO12 semi-final and final as the Scarlets stormed to an historic title, downing both Leinster and Munster along the way.
That earned him a call-up for the Lions midway through the Tour.
Following the Tour, Davies played in all five games as Wales won the Grand Slam under Gatland in 2019 and helped his country reach the Rugby World Cup semi-final in Japan.
He also played in all five games, starting three, as Wales reclaimed the Six Nations title in 2021, with his performances earning him another call-up for the Lions.
