George Beamish was an Irish prop who made 25 international starts for his country between 1925 and 1933.
In 1930 he was selected for the Lions Tour of Australia and New Zealand and played in five Test matches, four against the All Blacks and one against the Australians.
Beamish was also a senior commander in the RAF and served from 1923 to 1958. He was later chairman of the RAF Rugby Union and an Air Force rugby selector.
The prop is also credited with encouraging an element of green to be introduced to the Lions kit with green turnover on Lions socks featuring since 1938.
