Fly-half George Cromey was a star of the 1938 Lions Tour to South Africa, where he featured on 11 occasions.
The Northern Irishman – who was also a Presbyterian minister – scored tries in victories over Orange Free State County and North-East Districts and played in the final Test triumph over the Springboks.
Having made his international debut against England at Twickenham in 1937, Cromey went on to make nine appearances for his country – the last of which came against Wales in Belfast in 1939.
The Queen’s University star lived until 2006, when he died in Ballymoney at the age of 93.
