George North sprinted headlong into British & Irish Lions folklore with his iconic try in the first Test against Australia in Brisbane in 2013.
The Welsh winger was one of the stars of that Tour – his stunning solo effort helping the Lions to a win in the first Test against the Wallabies.
And, after Australia had fought back in the second Test, North was at it again in the decisive third Test, dotting down as the Lions sealed an historic series win.
In all North scored four tries across seven appearances for the Lions – starting all three Tests for Warren Gatland's side. Since that Tour, North has continued his meteoric rise from the youngest-ever player to score a try on his Wales debut back in 2010 (aged 18 years, 214 days).
At that point, he had only made six matches for the Scarlets’ first team, but now he is widely regarded as one of the most prolific wingers in world rugby.
Born in King’s Lynn of a Yorkshire father and Welsh mother, he moved to North Wales aged just two and is a fluent Welsh speaker.
North became the first teenager from anywhere in the world to score ten Test tries and was capped 21 times before his 20th birthday.
His performances during the 2012 and 2013 RBS 6 Nations Championships – where he started every match – were instrumental in Wales winning both tournaments, taking the Grand Slam in 2012 and losing only their opening match against Ireland in 2013.
He also won the Aviva Premiership title with Northampton Saints in 2014, and notched up his 150th point for the club in September 2016.
North helped Wales to the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals in 2015, remarkably he will still only be 25 years old when the tour to New Zealand gets underway in 2017.
