Triple Grand Slam winner Gerald Davies made his international debut for Wales in 1966, before first pulling on the famous red jersey of the Lions two years later on the Tour to South Africa.

Davies – who won 46 caps for his country – played once against the Springboks on that Tour, and scored three tries throughout the squad’s time in South Africa.

Three years later, winger Davies was once again selected to represent the Lions in New Zealand, where he appeared in all four Test matches, scoring three tries against the All Blacks as the Lions claimed an historic 2-1 series victory including a try in the third Test victory in Wellington.

Away from the Lions, Davies is remembered by many for a last-minute try against Scotland in 1971 which gave Wales the title after back rower John Taylor's conversion.

After retiring Davies went into the media, and continued his involvement with the Lions when he was named as manager of the 2009 Tour to South Africa, and subsequently serving as the chairman of the Lions board until 2014.
