Glyn Davidge’s sole Lions Tour – to South Africa in 1962 – was disrupted by injury.

The Wales flanker – who won nine caps for his country – only made three appearances on the Tour against South Western Districts, Northern Universities and North East Districts.

Davidge’s most memorable career achievements came with club side Newport. He was the outstanding player on the field as the club side beat the All Blacks in 1963 and narrowly lost to the Springboks two years earlier.

Not only was he a great 15-a-side player but Davidge was also a tremendous Sevens player also and was a member of the Newport 7s who won the Snelling Trophy three years running in 1961, 1962 and 1963.
