Gordon D’Arcy became almost synonymous with Brian O’Driscoll in the green of Ireland for their long-standing centre partnership.
The centre travelled on both the 2005 and 2009 Lions Tour making one Test appearance in the former.
D’Arcy – well known towards the end of his career for his bushy beard – made ten appearances for the Lions over the two Tours, making seven in 2005 and three in 2009.
Most notably he notched up two tries against Bay of Plenty and Manawatu in the Tour of New Zealand.
Although the centre never made the Test sides against New Zealand and South Africa he did start in the pre-Tour 25-25 draw against Argentina in 2005.
D’Arcy went on to become Ireland’s longest-serving international player at the 2015 World Cup before retiring from the sport.
