The first of an illustrious father-son duo that shone in British & Irish Lions colours, Irish prop Gordon Wood made two Test appearances against New Zealand in 1959.
Though he passed away when son Keith was ten, Gordon’s influence obviously rubbed off, with Wood junior famously going on to tour South Africa and Australia with the Lions in 1997 and 2001.
Keith Wood did what his father never managed by becoming a winning Lion in the 2-1 Test series triumph in South Africa, but Gordon still has one over on his son having notched two tries in wins over New Zealand Universities and Marlborough-Nelson Bays.
Limerick-born Wood turned out for club side Garryowen, racked up 29 caps for Ireland as well as representing his province Munster.
