Like the majority of the Lions squad that toured Argentina in 1910, Harold Monks had no previous international rugby playing experience.
This did not seem to hinder his performances in South America though as the winger twice crossed the whitewash and scored a drop goal in the sole international match against Argentina in Buenos Aires on June 12.
Those contributions helped the tourists to a 28-3 win while they eventually went the entire Tour unbeaten with six wins from six.
Back home, Monks played his domestic rugby for Liverpool Old Boys, Wigan RFC and Lancashire.
