Herbert Archer was a member of the 1908 Lions squad that toured New Zealand and Australia – racking up a monumental 18 appearances on the Tour.
The Ashcott-born No.8 appeared in all three Tests against the All Blacks on that Tour and also scored three tries for the Lions, against Otago, South Canterbury and Canterbury.
Archer was playing his club rugby for Guy’s Hospital when selected for the 1908 Tour and went on to win three Test caps for England the following year before dying in West Penrith, Cornwall in 1946, aged 63.
