Coventry-born Herbert Laxon played his club rugby for Cambridge University, winning sporting Blues in both 1903 and 1904, scoring a try for Cambridge in the former.
Although he was never capped internationally for England, in 1908 he was selected to tour New Zealand and Australia with the Lions as one of four half backs in the squad, and the only Cambridge University player chosen.
He made nine appearances in the famous red jersey, including in the first Test match against New Zealand.
