A breakthrough year in the 1924 Championships saw Herbert Waddell selected for The British & Irish Lions’ Tour to South Africa in the same year, appearing in three of the four Tests.
Representing Scotland, the outside half scored against Wales and crossed twice when Ireland were the opposition, far from the end of his try-scoring exploits.
Waddell only missed the third drawn Test, but shone with a try in a Tour game against Transvaal, one of 14 appearances in South Africa.
And his international exploits were not done there, finishing with 45 points from his career having played 15 times for Scotland.
