Welshman Ivor Jones became a focal point in The British & Irish Lions’ 1930 Tour to New Zealand, playing in all five Tests and as many as 20 games on the Tour.
The flanker had previously enjoyed 12 games for his country, making his last appearance as captain just before his Lions experience
It was a Tour which Jones was to star in, and although he wasn’t able to score in the Tests, was believed to be playing his best rugby in the famous Lions jersey.
That proved particularly so in his Lions records, a rarity as a kicking flanker, picking up 79 points on the Tour.
The starring display was to come in his final game in Australia, doubling his four-try tally from the Tour with a quartet of tries in the 71-3 victory over Western Australia.
