Ivor Preece captained Coventry, England and played for The British & Irish Lions in a glittering career both on and off the field.
The 12-cap England fly-half scored tries against Marlborough-Nelson Bays, New South Wales and Country, as well as two drop-goals against South Canterbury and East Coast/Poverty Bay/Bay of Plenty during the 1950 Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand.
After playing his final England Test against France, he dedicated his career to rugby administration, he has been president of Coventry Schools, Warwickshire RFU, Coventry RFC and Broadstreet RFC – where the playing field was named in his honour.
His son Peter was also an England international in the 1970s.
