Jack Spoors was one of many internationals to hail from Colston’s School – but the Bristol back would win his sole Test caps for the British & Irish Lions in South Africa in 1910.

Spoors was part of the Bristol RFC side who took on ‘The Original All Blacks’ on their 1905 tour of Europe, losing 41-0.

The Gloucestershire winger was prolific in South Africa, scoring three tries during the provincial games, which led to his selection for all three Tests.

Spoors remarkably scored in every single Test match and with a further score against Border, he finished the 1910 Tour as one of Tommy Smyth’s most deadly players.
