Ireland’s Jackie Kyle only featured on one Lions Tour but he made the most of it, racking up 20 appearances during the 1950 trip to New Zealand and Australia.

The fly-half had a distinguished international career, playing 48 times for his nation between 1946 and 1958. He was a key figure in Ireland's first Grand Slam in 1948.

Kyle matched his seven tries for Ireland with the same figure in less than half the number of games for the Lions.

In racking up six Test caps for the Lions Kyle would also score two Test tries, the first of which came in the drawn first Test against the All Blacks, and the second helping the tourists to a comfortable 24-3 win over Australia, in Sydney, which clinched a 2-0 win in the series.

After hanging up his boots, Kyle travelled the world in his role as a humanitarian and surgeon, before he passed away in 2014 following a prolonged illness.
