Northampton Saints player Jeff Butterfield had a stellar international career, accumulating 28 England caps and four Lions caps on the 1955 Tour to South Africa.
He made his England debut in 1953 against France and went on to play in 28 successive matches, winning the Five Nations four times, the Triple Crown twice and a Grand Slam.
He played in all four Tests in South Africa with the Lions – which ended all square at 2-2.
Four years later he was again selected by the Lions for the 1959 Tour to Australia and New Zealand, playing nine games on the Tour.
In later life he worked in the paint industry and was president of the Milton Keynes Rugby Club.
