Scottish forward Jim Greenwood toured South Africa in 1955, winning four Lions caps as Jack Siggins’ men drew 2-2 with the Springboks.

He scored a try in both the first and last Test, with his effort in that first game in Johannesburg proving crucial in a 23-22 victory.

The No 8 made his Scotland debut in 1952 against France, although he was dropped soon after, and he went on to win 20 caps.

He captained Scotland across two spells and is regarded as one of Scotland’s best-ever forwards.

Greenwood was a teacher by trade and also lectured at Loughborough University.
