Capped 20 times for Scotland, the versatility of Jock Turner made him an integral part of the Lions Tour to South Africa in 1968.
His ability to play fly-half, centre and full-back was, unsurprisingly, held in high esteem – playing in all four Tests and 11 matches in the famous Lions jersey.
Deployed primarily as a centre, Turner crossed for tries in three of his first four Tour games, kicking two drop-goals in the other to be an early focal point for the Lions due to his reliability.
That was to be Turner’s first and only Tour, but he went on to shine for Scotland and help them to their first win at Twickenham over England for 33 years in 1971.
