Douglas Andrew Kendrew – known as Joe – was an English prop on the 1930 Tour to New Zealand and Australia.
Devon-born Kendrew won ten England caps in his career and captained them in 1935 but on his sole Lions Tour he failed to crack the Test side.
He made 11 Tour appearances – scoring one try in a clash against Southland.
After his rugby career Kendrew served in the British army with great distinction in World War Two and the Korean War – earning a CBE as well as a DSO with three Bars.
