English centre John Dee scored three tries in the 12 games he played as a British & Irish Lion on the 1962 Tour to South Africa but couldn’t force his way into the Test side.
The Hartlepool man scored his first Lions try against Western Province Universities in a 14-11 victory and crossed the whitewash again in an 11-3 win over South Western Districts.
His final try came after the final Test, the series was lost, in a 50-0 thrashing of East Africa.
He picked up only two England caps in his career, the first in a draw against Scotland at Murrayfield in March 1962, and the second a defeat to New Zealand in Auckland in May 1963.
