Born in New Zealand, Jules Malfroy was named in The British & Irish Lions squad that travelled to Argentina in 1927 after earning a Blues representing Cambridge University.
The scrum-half had been a promising athlete in his homeland, as well as star rugby player, excelling in the hurdles.
Malfroy was one of only two players that travelled to Argentina, along with Roger Wakefield, who did not play in any of the four Test matches. He also did not win a cap for the All Blacks.
Malfroy later became a legal advisor during the Second World War to the British government and was a wing commander in the Royal Air Force. He died in August 1973, aged 72.
