English winger John Young started alongside Tony O’Reilly and Terry Davies in the back three as the 1959 British & Irish Lions fell 11-8 to New Zealand in the second Test in Wellington.
Though O’Reilly and Davies were key figures, it was Young who crossed for the only Lions try that day.
Chester-born winger Young was incredibly prolific on his only Lions Tour, scoring 14 tries in his 14 games and twice notching hat-tricks – he scored four against West Coast/Buller and three against Marlborough/Nelson Bays.
