A scrum-half for Old Millhillians and Middlesex, Johnny Williams made his England international debut against France in the last Five Nations game of 1954, going on to amass a further eight caps for his country.
The following year saw him selected as one of three scrum-halves for the Lions’ 1955 Tour to South Africa, but was not chosen to face the Springboks in the Test matches.
He did however make eight appearances in the red jersey in warm-up games, scoring six of the 21 Lions points against Central Universities in Durban.
