Newport-born Keith Jarrett became a Lion at 20 years of age in a period that saw the precocious youngster set point-scoring records for Wales.
Jarrett won his first cap for Wales at 19, and he proceeded to score 19 points in a 31-24 victory over England – equalling Jack Bancroft’s Welsh record haul set in 1910.
That display also included a sensational try that saw him outstrip the English defence on the touchline after keeping the ball in play.
Though he did not become a Test Lion, the centre scored ten points in a 32-6 victory over Rhodesia – a personal highlight of a Tour in which he played five times.
Jarrett switched to rugby league the following year, but sadly he never reached his full potential after suffering a stroke resulting from a hemorrhage that forced him to retire at 25.
