Keith Rowlands played 18 of the 25 matches on the 1962 Tour to South Africa, including three of the four Tests, though the Lions lost the series 3-0.
After a hard-fought draw in the first Test, Rowlands crashed over for what many thought to be the equalising try in the second Test at Kings Park, Durban, but it was ruled out.
South Africa went on to win the game 3-0 and after Rowlands missed the third Test he was scored a try in the fourth Test.
The lock forward was capped five times by Wales and after his playing days became a coach and administrator at Cardiff and was the IRB's first chief executive between 1988-1996.
