Scotland back row Laurie Duff made his international debut in 1936, but his greatest accomplishments came two years later after being named as a Lion for the Tour to South Africa.
He was part of the superb 1938 Scotland team that won the Triple Crown, beating Wales and Ireland at Murrayfield before making the trip down south to vanquish the Auld Enemy at Twickenham.
Duff was also a towering figure that summer for the Lions, scoring their first Test try on Tour in the 19-3 defeat to the Springboks before ensuring his side left the country with their tails up.
At Newlands, the then 25-year-old crossed for the winning try as the Lions produced a stunning second-half turnaround from 13-3 down to win 21-16.
Duff is also a legendary figure at South Lanarkshire-based club Uddingston RFC, where he grew up and also returned from Glasgow Academicals – serving as honorary vice-president well into the 1980s.
