Lewis Jones earned the distinction of becoming the first-ever Lion to arrive on Tour by aeroplane when flown out as an injury replacement for the 1950 trip to New Zealand and Australia.
The 19-year-old Welshman went on to become the top Lions Test points scorer on that Tour as he accrued 26 points in three clashes, including a haul of 16 in a virtuoso display during the 19-6 victory over Australia in Brisbane.
Jones – who had become the youngest-ever debutant for Wales by making his bow at Twickenham as an 18-year-old earlier that year – amassed a total of 112 points in 12 matches on the 1950 Tour.
In November 1952 he switched codes for a then-record fee of £6,000 and went on to become a rugby league star for Leeds before retiring in 1964.
