Liam Williams was selected for his second British & Irish Lions Tour in 2021 and featured in two Test matches against South Africa.
The versatile winger and full-back was a late replacement in the opening Test in Cape Town and helped the Lions to a famous 22-17 win.
He then started at full-back in the third and decisive Test, playing the full 80 minutes in a narrow 19-16 defeat as the Springboks won the series 2-1.
Williams was one of the standout performers on the 2017 Tour of New Zealand, starting all three Tests at full-back in the drawn series.
His performances in New Zealand were outstanding, earning his spot in the Test side with his ability under the high ball and his threat on the counter-attack.
That was particularly apparent in the first Test when Williams received the ball deep in his own 22, beat Kieran Read and Aaron Cruden and raced up to halfway to spark a move that ended with Sean O’Brien scoring one of the great Lions tries.
He earned his first Wales cap in 2012 and started every game of their Grand Slam-winning campaign in 2019, and then chipped in with tries against Scotland and England as they claimed the Six Nations title in 2021.
At club level he was part of the Scarlets side that claimed the PRO12 title in 2017 while he was part of Saracens’ Heineken Champions Cup-winning team in 2019 before returning to the Scarlets.
