Malcolm Thomas was a former centre who went on two British & Irish Lions tours of Australia and New Zealand in 1950 and 1959.
He was the youngest member of the class of 1950 but he still played 15 times and amassed a personal points haul of 96 points – which included nine tries and 18 conversions.
Highlights included a hat-trick of tries in a 27-13 victory over Waiparapa Bush, while he ended games against Marlborough/Nelson Bays and New South Wales Country with 21 points to his name.
Although he failed to cross the whitewash in a Test match against Australia, the Lions still ran out 19-6 winners, one of two victories over the Wallabies.
The Lions, however, failed to win any of their three matches with New Zealand, with Thomas sitting out the first clash before playing in the final two.
The 1959 trip saw Thomas score four tries, while in a 64-5 win over Marlborough/Nelson Bays he finished with four more points than he had done against the same opposition nine years earlier.
He missed out on the two Test victories over Australia, but did play in one of three losses against New Zealand, while the Lions also picked up a win against the Kiwis in Auckland.
Thomas was also a former Wales captain who featured in two Triple Crown successes.
