Maurice Edward Neale was the top try-scorer on the 1910 British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa, scoring nine tries in 14 Tour appearances.

Neale played club rugby for Bristol and went on to represent Gloucestershire – taking on the touring Australians in 1908 and losing 16-0.

He went on to win a County Championship for Gloucestershire in the 1909-1910 series.

Blessed with serious pace and an early proponent of the cross-field kick, Neale became a favourite among the South African fans.

He bagged a hat-trick against Border in the build up to the second Test with the Springboks before going on to score the try that levelled the series in Port Elizabeth.

After moving to Blackheath, Neale would go on to win his one and only England cap in 1912.
