A qualified vet, Mick Doyle scored a try on his Ireland debut in 1965, before going on to win 20 caps for his country without being dropped from the team throughout his international career.

The flanker was selected to represent the Lions for their 1968 Tour of South Africa, and made 11 appearances, including one against the Springboks, scoring six points through the Tour.

Following his retirement from playing, Doyle coached Leinster to Interprovincial Championship success five times between 1979 and 1983, before leading Ireland to the Triple Crown and Five Nations Championship.

Doyle passed away in 2004.
