Scotland's most capped scrum-half of all time Mike Blair was part of the squad that toured South Africa in 2009.

He had originally been omitted from the squad by coach Ian McGeechan, but after injury struck down Tomas O'Leary before the first Tour match, Blair answered the Lions' call.

Scotland's captain started against The Presidents XV and the Southern Kings, while he came off the bench against the Sharks - all three matches ended with victory for the Lions.

However, he was unable to wrestle away the No.9 shirt from Mike Phillips for the Test matches, while Harry Ellis was the man named on the bench in a narrow series defeat against the Boks.

Blair - who won 85 caps for Scotland - announced his retirement from rugby in April 2016 to take up a coaching role with Glasgow Warriors.
