Mike Burton was an uncompromising prop who was a member of the Invincibles Tour in 1974, where he made eight appearances in total.
South Africa proved to be a happy hunting ground for him as he was also part of the England side who remained unbeaten during their tour in 1972 and was part of the Test side who won 18-9 at Ellis Park.
His time with his national team also included tours to New Zealand and Australia – where in 1975 he became the first English player to be sent off.
After retiring from rugby Burton went into business setting up Mike Burton Travel working on rugby tours, including with The British & Irish Lions.
