Neil McPherson was a Welsh forward who toured South Africa with the Lions in 1924.

Capable of playing prop or flanker, he played in all four matches against the Springboks, but did not score any points.

He played club rugby for his hometown team of Newport, but represented Scotland at an international level, for whom he won seven caps.

In the 1922/23 season, McPherson was part of Newport’s invincible season, for which each player was rewarded with a gold watch.
