Ireland international prop Nick Popplewell was a tourist with The British & Irish Lions in 1993 – he played in all three Test matches and made a total of seven appearances in New Zealand.
As well as the three Test matches in New Zealand, he also played in the tour games against North Harbour, Otago, Auckland and the New Zealand Maoris.
He was a fearsome front row exponent and made 48 appearances for his country during a career that started in 1989 and finished in 1998.
Born in Dublin, Popplewell played his club rugby for Greystones RC and also featured for Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership as they claimed the title during the 1997-98 season.
