Noel Humphreys made five appearances for the Lions during the 1910 Tour of South Africa, scoring seven points.
Born in Llangan Rectory in Bridgend, Humphreys’ family moved from Cheshire to County Durham and he was part of a Tynedale side which won three Senior Cups and four Senior Shields between 1909 and 1912.
Humphreys fought in World War One as a Captain in the Tank Corps (10th Battalion) and won the Military Cross before being killed in action in March 1918. He is honoured at the Etaples Military Cemetery.
