Osbert Mackie earned the call-up for The British & Irish Lions despite not playing a match for his country, England, a far from unusual occurrence during those times.
His honour to wear the famous Lions jersey came following his time at Cambridge University, then going on to enjoy a successful Tour as the Lions won three out of four Tests, with Mackie getting the nod for all four of them.
And the centre enjoyed a profitable scoring record, crossing in well over half of his games, notably breaching the whitewash in the third Test.
Ten tries in all made it a successful Lions berth, also adding a drop goal in the second Test before going on to appear for England on two occasions.
