Patrick Hancock played his club rugby for Richmond and impressed enough to earn a Lions call-up for the 1903 Tour to South Africa at the tender age of 20.
As a half-back, he played all three Tests against South Africa – a series that the Lions lost 1-0 – and appeared 16 times in total in the famous jersey, including a penalty-scoring performance against Durban.
Hancock was uncapped for England at the time of the Tour but appeared three times in the following year’s Home Nations Championship as a fly-half.
