Paul Burnell is London Scottish’s most capped Scotland international of all time with 52 appearances to his name for his country, spanning three World Cups in 1991, 1995 and 1999.

The powerful prop was rewarded for his outstanding form for Scotland as they won the 1990 Grand Slam and then again at the 1991 World Cup in England by being called up to the 1993 British & Irish Lions Ttour.

Burnell made his mark in New Zealand, starting the first Test match for the Lions alongside Irish pop Nick Popplewell, before he was replaced by Englishman Jason Leonard.

Burnell made his international debut against England in 1989 at Twickenham, his only Scotland try came against the Ivory Coast at the 1995 World Cup, while his last international appearance came in the 1999 tournament against New Zealand.
