Gloucester flanker Peter Hordern's fine club form was recognised at the end of the 1935/36 season when he was included in the party for the 1936 Tour to Argentina.
Hordern won four caps for England, the last of which came against Wales in a Home Nations clash in Cardiff in 1934.
Educated at Brighton College, Hordern played rugby and cricket for the school before studying at Oxford University. Upon leaving Oxford he began teaching at Monmouth High School while also turning out for Newport.
A keen sailor, Hordern featured for Gloucester as a guest before joining for the 1932/33 season. His form earned international recognition with England and the Barbarians before he retired from top-class rugby at the end of the 1936/37 campaign, continuing as a referee.
Hordern was a Pilot Officer in the Reserve of Air Force Officers before serving as a Flight Lieutenant during World War Two. He won the Air Force Cross in 1944 and was promoted to Squadron Leader, remaining with the service after the end of the war. Hordern was promoted to Wing Commander in 1954.
