Centre Phil Davies was part of the 1955 side which toured South Africa, in which the Lions drew 2-2 in a thrilling Test series.
The Worcestershire powerhouse was a member of the Cambridge University side which toured Japan in 1953 – the first tour by a Cambridge side after the Second World War.
He played 11 Tests for England featuring in four Five Nations-winning sides.
He later served as a headmaster at several schools and colleges, culminating in a 22-year spell at Cheltenham College Junior School.
