Capped 23 times by Wales, Ray Gravell was a member of two Grand Slam-winning sides in the 1970s.
He toured with the Lions to South Africa in 1980, playing in all four Tests as South Africa triumphed 3-1.
In total, Gravell made 11 appearances on the 1980 Tour, starting ten of those games, while his substitute appearance came in the first Test which the Lions lost 26-22, coming on for John Carleton.
In the next Test, Gravell was picked in the starting line-up next to Clive Woodward and scored his second international try, though the tourists lost 26-19, while he helped the Lions to a 17-13 victory in their final game. He lined up alongside Paul Dodge in midfield for the third and fourth Tests.
After retiring from playing, he then became a respected Welsh language broadcaster and was also an occasional actor while he sadly passed away from a heart attack aged 56 in 2007 having suffered from diabetes since 2000.
