He played 12 games on the Tour but there was to be no Lions Test jersey for Irish winger Ray Hunter despite scoring four tries on the 1962 Tour to South Africa.
The Ulsterman did however pick up ten Ireland caps during his career, making his debut against England at Twickenham in February 1962.
His only international try came against Scotland in his second Ireland game where he also kicked a penalty to take his tally for the match to six.
A multi-talented sportsman, Hunter had won international honours on the cricket field for his country five years earlier. A right-handed batsman and medium pace bowler he scored 74 not out in his first Irish game in 1957.
