Forged in the mines of South Wales during World War Two, Rees Stephens was a second-row enforcer who won two British & Irish Lions Test matches against the Wallabies in 1950.
He followed in the footsteps of his father Glyn Stephens by pulling on the red of Wales, but surpassed the achievements of Stephens senior by pulling on a Lions jersey 14 times – scoring once against New South Wales.
Stephens earned 32 caps in a decade-long Wales career and may have earned more Lions caps had he not suffered a shoulder injury early in the Tour.
