Lancashire-born Reg Higgins toured with the Lions to South Africa in 1955, playing in the thrilling opening Test match which the Lions won 23-22.
However, Higgins was stretchered off with a broken leg during the match and subsequently missed the rest of the Tour.
The flanker played for Liverpool Rugby Club and won 13 England caps between 1954-1959.
He played in 12 Five Nations matches, scoring two tries.
