Reggie Plummer was one of five Newport RFC players to represent The British & Irish Lions on their 1910 Tour of South Africa.
Plummer spent almost his entire career with Newport RFC, he played in the 8-0 loss to South Africa in 1906 and in a 5-3 loss – in which fellow 1910 Tourist Mel Baker scored the sole Newport Try.
The Long Ashton, Bristol-educated winger did not play in any of the 1910 Test matches, but was a force in the provincial games – scoring six tries.
He scored a hat-trick against Transvaal Country Districts and a double against Southern Rhodesia.
The Welsh flier won two of his five Wales Tests – all of which were in 1912 – but he had started with a bang, scoring a try as they beat Scotland 21-6 at St Helens, Swansea.
In fact Plummer never lost a game he scored in, his only other try coming in a win over France in Newport.
